A new confrontation between Marquez and Pacquiao
Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, said that there is a chance that Filipinos to meet for the fifth and probably last time, with Juan Manuel Marquez in 2013. The two boxers, renowned for their aggressive style, have completed the first confrontation (May 2004) in a draw. Marquez lost his WBC title against Filipino at ultra light category in March 2008.
There was, then, the confrontation from November last year when Pacquiao was declared the winner after a controversial decision. Manny Pacquiao (33 years) and Juan Manuel Marquez (39 years) met for the fourth time in December, this year, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It was a fabulous match, ended with the victory of Mexican Marquez, who until then had cried dissatisfaction with previous decisions. Dominated by the desire to demonstrate the injustice that was done, Marquez never left room for interpretation or decision of arbitrators, and “punished” on Pacquiao for all these years, when the Filipino was considered better.
Mexican returning surprised everyone and especially Pacquiao, who, this time, did not have the right of reply.
In the last seconds of the sixth inning, Mexican sent a direct right and Pacquiao fell to harvest the floor, where it remained motionless for several minutes.
This image, which now brings tears to the eyes of Filipino Manny Pacquiao, goes around the world.
For Manny Pacquiao, 2013 brings a new challenge. Therefore to meet for the fifth time and probably the last, with Marquez in what appears to be a “crazy race” where everyone wants to prove that it is the best.
Moreover, the information was confirmed by Pacquiao’s promoter: “I think in 2013 we have a new confrontation with Marquez.”
And for those who hoped for a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Bob Arum bring sad news: “We don’t have a chance to see a showdown between Manny and Floyd Mayweather Jr., but life goes on!”
